A casino owner from Vegas, Rhett Parks, was relaxing on a bench in a small English town. To his dismay, a young woman interrupted his sanctuary. A minute later, his body was out cold on the ground and he was taking up residence inside of the intruder - schoolteacher Carrie Temple - and without her permission.
Carrie Temple’s first words “get out” didn't solve anything because he had no idea of how he got in. During the next few weeks they fought each other, taught each other and began to love each other, not an easy accomplishment considering the situation, but doable, as Rhett proved to sweet, naïve Carrie.
They became involved with strange Dr. Andrews who assured them he had the answers to solve their problem, but Rhett’s brother Ashley, who they turned to for help, was absolutely certain, that the man they were putting their faith in, was a charlatan and a quack.

Rhett Parks, a Las Vegas casino owner, has just buried his absentee, alcoholic father in a church cemetery located in the English countryside. Still wearing on his face the anger and bitterness generated by memories of his childhood, Rhett sinks down onto a bench across from the church’s vicarage. As both a handsome and rich man, he is used to the attention of beautiful women, but he inwardly groans when he sees a gorgeous young woman steadfastly approaching him.

However, Carrie Temple isn’t heading for Rhett. Instead, she steps to the side and snips a rose from the bush growing behind the bench. Rhett hears her gasp as a thorn pricks her finger and then he sees her sway, drop the rose and sit down hard on the bench. Reaching down to pick up the rose, Rhett pricks his own finger on the thorn. And, in the space of a second gasp, Rhett’s body slips, comatose, to the ground, and his spirit watches it all from above – and through the eyes of Carrie Temple.

This is the second entry in the Vicarage Bench series, after “She’s Me.” And I feel, to understand the dynamics of the time travel and space displacement, that entry definitely needs to be read first.

Mimi Barbour does a much better job with this second story than she did with the first. She has made this entry longer by about 30 pages, which allows for a bit more detail and fleshing out. And she limits the time span of the plot line to several weeks instead of the several months she tried to cram into the first one.

The character growth of both Rhett and Carrie is solid and believable. Their interactions with others are consistent to the characterizations drawn. And the romance is both palpable and erotic. But it is the epilogue that will make this entry stick with you long after you have moved on to your next read.

He Her The Vicarage Bench Series Book 2 edition by Mimi Barbour Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It was a quick read and despite that I still could easily put it down and walk off for periods of time. As it starts off within the first few pages the reader has a pretty clear idea of the events that will unfold. Overall it was a cute story, but I had a tough time actually liking the main male character. I felt a general disconnect from the story. Only one part had me rolling my eyes. I liked the basic ideas of the plot, just maybe could have used a bit more flesh on it's bones.
This Novella reminds me of an arranged marriage; in that two people are thrown together with no choice in the matter at all. Some of these arranged marriages end up to be great love stories in that the two start out not liking each other and over time their love grows to a forever kind of love.
The two main characters in this book Carrie and Rhett, are "thrown together", sort of, and from there the story grows....
If you would like a sweet romance story to read that is quick and easy. This is the book for you! Looking forward to reading the sequal to this "We're One" soon!
He's Her was a very enjoyable story and I liked the continuation of the time travel plot. Carrie started out quite insipid but with Rhett's help and support, she developed strength of mind and confidence in herself. Rhett started out very nasty and selfish but the experience of living with Carrie in her body changed him and he became very loving and caring. The dialogues were delightful and really created well-defined characters with distinct personalities. The imagery was very expressive and descriptive and I really liked the characters and felt like they were believable. I'm glad that I followed the four and five star reviewers' recommendation and read this book. I definitely recommend it, also.
This second in the Vicarage series did not disappoint. In fact, it has strengthened my feeling that, taken as a whole, the Vicarage series would make an entrancing film. It's lovely, light, romantic, sweet, yet it isn't sickeningly sugary. The characters "read" real and it's so easy to picture them in my mind's eye. (I even began to choose various English actors to populate several of the roles.)

I found the chemistry between Carrie and Rhett to be just as powerful in Book 2 as that between Lucy and John in Book 1 (and Jenna's "redemption"). I fell in love with Carrie's grandparents, and that little Robert in her classroom ... well, let's just say there was a tear or two over that scene!

Thanks, Ms. Barbour, for sharing your creations with the world. You are a master at word-crafting (or perhaps I should say, mistress). I have purchased the next two books and am eager to hunker down this evening to absorb and savor more of the Vicarage series.

HE'S HER by MIMI BARBOUR is the second book in The Vicarage Bench Series. Rhett Parks, a Las Vegas casino owner, finds himself on a bench in a small English town after the funeral service of his estranged father. He's an abrasive and demanding soul. Rhett notices a beautiful woman walking towards the bench but wants nothing to do with her or anyone else at the moment so he ignores her.

Carrie Temple notices the man on the bench but it's not in her nature to approach him. She's the exact opposite of Rhett. She's a shy and sweet school teacher looking for a rose to pick to take home to her beloved grandmother. As she clips a white rose from the bush behind the bench, she pricks her finger and feels weak. She moves for the bench and sits next to Rhett. The rose falls and he begrudgingly picks it up for her. His finger is pricked by the rose and his body collapses into a deep coma. His spirit or soul, however, is transported into the body of the naive Ms. Temple.

What transpires over the next few weeks is magical. I really enjoyed the interactions and dialog between Rhett and Carrie as he was holed up in her body. I found myself laughing out loud many times and found the lessons these two opposites taught each other endearing. The ending of this book was so touching and sweet that it has me smiling every time I think about it.

I can't wait to see where the author takes this series.
