Breaking Nova Nova series Book 1 edition by Jessica Sorensen Literature Fiction eBooks

It will be really hard for me to express what makes this book so amazing without giving any spoilers away. I will say it is one of the most emotionally powerful and honest books I have read in a long time. That also means, it is not the easiest book to read. There is no white knight and no easy fixes. Jessica clearly did her research when writing this book. I have read everything that I know of that Jessica has written and in all honesty, I think this is her best work. I should mention that this is Nova book one, so do not expect everything to be tied up in a pretty bow at the end of the story. That being said, the story is not all left open and hanging. Some major decisions were made and some important healing took place. It is not half a book. It is a whole story with simply more to come. It should be noted : This book deals heavily with the aftermath of suicide, anxiety, and with drug use and addiction.

Breaking Nova Nova series Book 1 edition by Jessica Sorensen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

5 HEARTBREAKING & HOPEFUL STAR THOUGHTS!

Before you start this book, make sure you grab a box of tissues (or two)!!! Breaking Nova grabbed me from the very beginning and turned me into an emotional mess! I was balling several times because the sadness and heartbreak were so real to me! I couldn't put it down... which I should have figured since I am always addicted to Jessica Sorensen's books! ANOTHER BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN, ANGSTY, AND EMOTIONAL READ by Ms. Sorensen!!!

Breaking Nova is the story of Nova and Quinton...

"People say that time heals all wounds, and maybe they're right." ... "But what if the wounds don't heal correctly, like when cuts leave behind nasty scars, or when broken bones mend together, but aren't as smooth anymore?"... "Does it mean they're really healed? Or is that the body did what it could to fix what broke...?"

Nova's best friend and boyfriend died leaving her broken and lost. He was her everything after her father passed away and now she doesn't know how to move forward. Coming home for the summer from college is even worse than she thought it would be. Being home is bringing back all the memories she has tried so hard to hide from. She wants to be able to move on and feel alive again!

"I ask myself the same question every day Why me? Why did I survive? And every day I get the same response I don't know."

Quinton was driving the car the night his whole world shattered. His girlfriend and cousin were killed when they wrecked and he wishes he wouldn't have been saved! He feels guilty and is trying so hard to forget. He is living his life numb, hoping that one day soon he will disappear for good, like he deserves too!

"But sometimes stuff happens and we find ourselves lost, and suddenly we're standing in a place we don't recognize and can't remember walking - or falling - there, and we're unsure how to get back or if we even want to."

But the last thing either of them expected was to be drawn to each other. When they are together they both have feelings that neither of them want or expected! But life doesn't always go as you plan or want it to. Especially when both of their lives are an emotional wreck and neither of them know where their life is taking them!

"I'm just a girl with a camera trying to see life through a different eye."

I absolutely LOVED every word of this book! I love a book with a lot of angst and emotions, but I this book is off the charts! And holy cliffhanger... I about died when I got to the last page! I will be very impatiently waiting for the next book!!! If you want a book with a roller coaster of emotions and heartbreak, while at the same time healing your soul... then this is the book for you! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
Jessica Sorensen I feel like I have cheated you, there is no way this book is worth only 99 cents. This book is beyond 5stars!!!!! This books tops both Ella and Micah and Callie and Kaydens stories. It is also darker than both those series. It is a darkness that is heart wrenching, yet moving. The dual POVs are in sync with one another. Nova starts out as this weak heroine who appears to have no one that can help her; if anything the characters around her break her down even more. Then there is Quinton, like the saying goes you can't help people who don't want to help themselves and unfortunately he is one of those people. But his character has a purpose that serves beyond this first book. Although he is damaged and unreachable emotionally, he is the catalyst for Nova's self transformation. I need to Xanax to help me through the wait until the next book. This book has definitely earned itself a spot in one of my top five favorite books/series. Highly recommend this book
First Thoughts

This was actually a re-read for me. I originally read Breaking Nova some time ago, and geeze, you might as well have called it Breaking Pearl. I'm not even joking. It broke me.

I just felt empty inside after reading it. I tried picking up other books to take my mind off Nova and Quinton (especially poor Quinton), but I couldn't. The story stayed with me and I just couldn't read anything else for months. Nothing could compare.

Finally, when I could read again, I debated continuing the series, but I couldn't bring myself to. I was terrified of feeling that same sadness for these characters. Breaking Nova is definitely a story that sticks with you for life.

What I Enjoyed

All the feels.
Breaking Nova starts on a super depressing note. The things that have happened to Quinton and Nova are heartbreaking. The way they handled their grief was upsetting, but very realistic. When they started to look to each other for company and love, I rooted hard for them! All the smiles and the cute dialogue, sighh, my heart.

The epilogue.
One word-- chills. It seems like things are only going to get ten thousand times worse before they start to get better.

Memorable Quote
I’m pretty certain my worthless heart shatters inside my chest, and she steals one of the pieces. If it didn’t already belong to someone else I probably would have handed her all the pieces right then and there.

New adult readers, for sure. If you can't stomach stories about death and drug abuse, this isn't the book for you.
